Our Process

At Electric Heat Solutions, we seek to do right by our clients by giving them the best product and service for the price they are paying.

Our Colorado-based team of experts will fly to you and make sure your system is repaired to the highest standard with minimal disruption to your property.

In repairing a broken system, our team uses custom-made, specialized machines to quickly identify the exact location of the break. Once found, our team removes only the required amount of flooring to repair the wire.

To ensure the longevity of a repair, our team uses high-quality waterproof solder shrink tubes. Then, we add marine-grade dual wall heat shrink tubes for additional protection and seal.

Upon completing the repair, we will run a thorough test of the system and document the results. From there, the system will be turned off until encapsulated once more in mortar and floor covering.

Working with Electric Heat Solutions

Travel vs local service

Electric Heat Solutions is based in Colorado. For service within the state, we are priced by the hour with a four-hour minimum. Our crew will bring all the necessary equipment. For service outside of Colorado, we are priced as a day rate and are unable to bring certain equipment. We require clients to provide:

  • Construction site shop-vac

  • Standard construction site five-gallon bucket

  • Broom and dust pan

Extra Floor Covering

Our team may have to break into the floor to fix the system and we do not provide replacement floor covering. Before booking, be sure to prepare extra floor covering (tile, hardwood, EVP, concrete, etc.). Please note: Electric Heat Solutions technicians do not replace the flooring.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Electricity can be unpredictable and a system breaking over time naturally is very possible. A broken system is not necessarily indicative of a larger problem. Beyond natural wear and tear, some other reasons a heated floor could fail include:

    • Over-volted system (120v system being supplied with 240v)

    • Cut or physical system damage to the wire from install of system (knife from cleaning grout line, hit with trowel, stepped on, etc.)

    • Cable was crunched or dimpled when placed in underlayment.

    • Too much of the cable was removed causing it to read outside its designated resistance range.

    • Cold lead in the wall (must be buried).

    • Poor spacing causing wire to superheat and eventually break.

These are some of the many possible causes.

Note: for legal reasons, we cannot definitively state what caused a break in your particular system.

  • We repair all forms of electric heated floors from a variety of manufacturers. We also diagnose and repair electric snow melt systems.

  • Generally, regardless of the age of your heated floor system, most can be repaired. It will operate just as well as - if not better than - when it came from the factory.

  • Following the repair of a heated floor, you must adhere to the following guidelines:

    • Do not run the system until the floor has been re-covered in mortar and covering. Note: We do not put floor covering back unless specifically discussed prior to repair.

    • Wait 3-4 Days before running the system to allow the mortar bed to dry.

    • Do not exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This is true for most thermostats.

    • The max amperage load for your typical thermostat is 15 amps.
